This post is different from what you have been used to see here on the blog. I love to travel and would like to see the world, but it’s not my only passion. Fashion represents more for me than just clothes. It’s a way to express myself. And when expressing yourself verbally does not come as easy (simply because I’m not an outspoken person), speaking through your look is important. So this is not just about fabrics, textures, or shapes. It’s not even about brands. It’s about feeling confident, and feminine (in my case), and being ready to face the world.
A thing or two about being a woman today
I woke up this morning and as I always do, I checked my notifications (it’s not a healthy habit, I know). Whilst on Facebook, I came across an article written for Donald Trump by, and I quote, “angry women”. I’m adding the link here because I found the piece was well written and worthy of being shared. I’m not going to go into politics, that’s not the point of my post. However, I will say this: it’s important that we, as women stand up for what we want, and for how we want to live life. We should never be put down for being women!
I grew up in a misogynistic environment having my own father behaving and treating women as if they were inferior and not worthy of his respect. I never accepted that and I never will. It’s a matter of self-respect. But it’s still hard, whether you have a strong personality or not, whether you can stand up for yourself or not.
So what does fashion have to do with anything?
At this point, you are probably wondering where I’m going with this post. It’s simple. I love being a woman. For me getting ready for the day is a ritual which includes putting makeup on and choosing a nice outfit. It gives me strength. This is why fashion is not just a passion but an important part of my life, and it’s also the reason why I want to start a business.
Hidden Gems Shop
I have had the idea of starting a fashion business for a long time and it’s slowly starting to take shape. Hidden Gems Shop is the first step. Besides this post which includes my first official outfit post, I will be adding a shopping page soon.
For today’s look, I have chosen this Free People dress because it’s feminine and bold. Since my style is quite simple, I opted to wear one accessory piece, a beautiful necklace from Happiness Boutique. BTW, Happiness Boutique is offering a 10% discount for orders over 19 euros until November 10th. All you have to do is to enter hiddengemstheblog at checkout. Happy shopping! :).
Besides celebrating a new direction in my life with the “launch” of the shop, I would like to celebrate women today. Mothers, sisters, daughters, business women etc. Hats off to all of you for being who you are #girlboss.
If you like it, why not Pin it!
