From gorgeous Quito to the unique Galapagos Islands, through to the colonial beauty that is Cuenca, and finishing with the Sacred Valley in Peru. Ethical fashion brand, Andes Fashion helped us discover and connect to a new world.
Sustainable and Ethical Fashion
I started the six months trip in South America with the idea of taking a break to find new experiences, and to hopefully realize what I want to do in life. Four months into the trip I realized that I always knew what I wanted, I just didn’t go for it. I was too scared to take the risk or I didn’t think the timing was good. The past months, thanks to meeting inspiring people and being able to work on some projects, have not only reminded me that I love to work, but that I really need to start doing what I like. Now.
I’ve been looking for a way to combine business and social responsibility, and I think that I have found it. Creating a business that revolves around one of my passions, fashion, and helping people is a dream come true. I will give you more details once my project evolves. Until then, I present you one of the brands that inspired me…
I met Mirta, the founder of Andes Fashion in Quito over coffee and discussed her brand. She told me about the materials they use, the inspiration for their collections, and future projects.
The latest collection is called Volcano and includes a range of accessories from high-quality Panama hats and purses to gorgeous necklaces, bracelets, and rings.
This is one of the reasons I love Andes Fashion and why I’m such a big supporter of their brand. This is an excerpt from their website:
Andes Fashion helps to empower women! Why? because women make up the majority of the world’s poorest people. With every purchase of our hats, jewelry, handbags, shoes and scarves you help these amazing artisans to be the support for their families, change their kids future and their own.
All our products are handmade only with Ecuadorian raw materials by Ecuadorian artisans.
From Ecuador to Peru with Andes Fashion
Our journey with Andes Fashion started in the beautiful capital city, Quito, which I think deserves the title of the most beautiful capital city in South America. From there we went to the Galapagos Islands for a unique experience.
After days in the sun, watching iguanas and penguins sunbathing a few meters from us, we continued our journey with a visit to Cuenca, another gorgeous colonial city in Ecuador.
Last but not least, before starting the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu we had a few days exploring Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Epic! Andes Fashion joined us every step of the way through their creations.
I was happy to collaborate with Andes Fashion, and I hope that ethical and sustainable fashion brands will become more and more known and appreciated in the future. This will help us to continue being fashionable, but with a conscience :).
